Man arrested in connection with arson attacks

Police investigating a series of arson attacks in the Bungay area have arrested a 22 year old man man.

Officers made the arrest yesterday, Thursday 18 February, with the man being arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and arson not endangering life.

He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police investigation Centre for questioning and was subsequently released under investigation pending further enquiries.

It follows a series of incidents in the Bungay area earlier this month and in December last year.

One was reported on 2nd February where bins were set alight in the Hillside Road West area (crime number 37/278/21) and another in the Queen’s Road area on 7th February where further bins were set alight (crime number 37/72059/20).

There were another three incidents, also in the Queen’s Road area, on 6th December last year where three bins were set alight (crime numbers 37/70774/20, 37/70762/20, 37/70726/20).

Police are still keen to speak to anyone who may have information. They should contact Lowestoft police on 101 quoting the relevant crime number.
