Woman suffers serious head injuries after assault

Two men arrested after a woman was assaulted in Ipswich this morning have been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Just before 5am, in the early hours of today, Saturday 10 July, police were called to reports that, following a short altercation, a woman had been assaulted on Falcon Street in the town.

The woman, who is aged in her 30s, was found unconscious, having sustained head injuries. She was taken via ambulance to Ipswich Hospital and her condition is now described as serious but stable.

Two men in their 20s were arrested near the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and were taken to Martlesham Police Investigation Centre for questioning. Both men have now been released under investigation whilst enquiries continue.

Road closures initially put in place have now been lifted.
