Man suffers head injury in early morning assault

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident of grievous bodily harm in Lowestoft.

It took place on the High Street in the early hours of this morning, Saturday 11th September, at about 1.35am.

The victim is a man aged in his late 30s. He had met a group of people known to him in an attempt to resolve a previous grievance. Following this conversation the victim has gone to walk away when three males assaulted him.

They used some type of club or stick and a possible knife to strike him to the head and neck, causing a head injury. The victim, then walked away with another male from outside Istanbul Chef, towards the Jubilee filling station leaving a trail of blood on the pathway.

The victim then called police to report the incident. The victim received treatment at hospital but the injuries are not life threatening.

Enquires are on-going to locate and arrest the suspects, who are thought to be known to him. Anyone who saw the incident, knows who the suspects were or their current whereabouts or saw the man walking down towards the Jubilee filling station should contact Lowestoft CID quoting crime number 37/50234/21.
