Twenty appliances in attendance at thatched roof blaze

Twenty fire and rescue appliances from two counties are currently in attendance at a thatched roof fire in Thwaite.

The fire service was alerted to the incident on Church Lane at 7.38am this morning, Monday 26th April.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service currently have fourteen vehicles in attendance with further appliances having been sent from across the border in Norfolk.

Firefighters are using breathing apparatus and ladders to tackle the blaze which is in the roof of a two storey property.

Crews from Diss, Harleston, Loddon, Long Stratton, Thetford, Ipswich East, Woodbridge, Ipswich Princes Street, Framlingham, Leiston, Bungay, Stradbroke, Needham Market, Stowmarket, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, Elmswell and Ixworth have all been mobilised.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service are asking people to avoid the immediate area to allow access for their vehicles.
