A sponsored toddle to support national charity Barnardo’s has seen one Bury St Edmunds primary school raise more than £1,000.

Around 40 nursery children from Abbots Green Primary Academy took part in the Safari-themed Big Toddle Week, a short sponsored walk for under 5s.

The school children got into the spirit of the event by taking part in fancy dress and headteacher Ang Morrison said she was delighted with how the fundraiser went.

She explained: “Across our school, we always place a strong emphasis on charity and helping others, both nationally and within our own community.

“All the children took part in the lap of our school field and they raised an amazing £1,012 – and still counting.

“It was a wonderful event to be part of and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who sponsored and donated.”
