Fire crews from across the county were called to Mildenhall Hub after a chemical spill this morning.
The building, on Sheldrick Way, was evacuated by staff just before 10.30am today, Sunday 12th September.
Appliances from Woodbridge, Holbrook, Stowmarket, Hadleigh, Long Melford, Haverhill, Bury St Edmunds, Ixworth and Newmarket are on standby at the scene while the incident is dealt with.
A cordon was put in place surrounding the site and a decontamination area set up.
Fire crews used breathing apparatus to deal with the spillage inside the leisure centre plant room.
Suffolk Fire & Rescue Service have confirmed that no casualties have been reported.
The incident was successfully contained with no wider threat to the public. The building was handed back to staff by 2pm.
Mildenhall Hub will remain closed for the rest of Sunday and will reopen as normal on Monday.
