Arrival of travellers prompts closure of leisure centre

Newmarket Leisure Centre have announced they will be closed this weekend after travellers arrived in their car park.

Money will be refunded to those who have booked activities at the leisure centre this weekend and they plan to reopen on Monday.

A spokesperson for Abbeycroft Leisure Centre who run the centre said: “Due to circumstances relating to the behaviour of individuals associated with caravans that have parked at the site, it is with regret that we have had to make the decision to close Newmarket Leisure Centre over the weekend, so until Monday morning 26th July 2021.‌‌

“We will be contacting our customers over the weekend who have pre-paid activities for this weekend to rebook or provide a credit.‌

‌”Members who have booked a gym, egym, class, court or lane swim your session will be cancelled, if you’d like to cancel yourself online that would be helpful.

‌‌‌‌”Swim Academy customers who attend lessons this weekend, we will credit your next available direct debit for this lesson missed.‌

‌”Our hirers have also been informed who will contact their group members‌

‌‌”We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and disappointment caused but the safety of our customers and staff remains our top priority.”
